Wiston Winery
Journey
Board our quintessentially British train for a visit to Wiston Estate, an award-winning winery in the Sussex Downs
Be immersed in art deco splendour, exceptional gastronomy and captivating scenery on board. Alight to discover the winemaking prowess of this exceptional producer, whose many accolades include being named Winery of the Year four times.
Your journey takes you to Wiston Estate, a family-owned winery in the rolling West Sussex hills. The beautiful estate has been nurtured by the Goring family since 1743. Pip Goring, arriving at Wiston in 1972, dreamed of planting a vineyard to evoke her childhood in South Africa’s Western Cape. Her dream became a reality in 2006 when the family planted the south-facing chalky slopes and clay soils with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Their world-class sparkling wines have since garnered an array of accolades and are consistently championed as the best examples of their type in the UK.

WISTON WINERY
We disembark at Pulborough and travel to the Wiston Estate by road. Their newly refurbished winery is located in the North Farm, deep in the estate’s 6,000 acres. Following your welcome you’ll make your way over to the vineyard where you will be guided through one of the Estates many vineyards to see first-hand the terroir that gives their wine its distinctive character.
Later, you will learn about the history of the estate and the techniques used within the winery, including use of a traditional Coquard press, one of only four outside France. A tutored tasting of a selection of award-winning Wiston wines follows in the tasting room, accompanied by a selection of local delights.
Afterwards there is time to visit the cellar door, enjoy the courtyard or take advantage of the proximity to the South Downs and head out for a walk around the estate.
