Herbert Hall Winery

Your Journey

Board our quintessentially British train for an effervescent visit to Herbert Hall Winery, in Kent. Be immersed in art deco splendour, exceptional gastronomy and captivating scenery on board. Alight to discover the winemaking process of this storied, artisan producer.

Your day begins as you board British Pullman at London Victoria Station and settle into your plush art deco carriage. Feast on a three-course brunch crafted from seasonal delicacies, many of which will have been sourced from the bucolic fields, orchards and farmlands you’re travelling through.
Arriving in Staplehurst, board a private coach for the short journey to the winery. It won’t be long before you take your first delicious sip of sparkling wine. You will then be taken on a guided tour of the vineyards. September is harvest season so the vines will be flourishing. Herbert Hall's philosophy is comparable to those of the best champagne producers — they use fruit only from their own vineyards, selecting the best from individual plots to create site-specific wines expressive of terroir, vintage by vintage. Next, you head back to the winery to learn about the winemaking process from the Head Winemaker herself, right among the steel tanks and barrels. Throughout the afternoon you’ll enjoy tastings of Herbert Halls unique sparkling wines. We think you'll agree that one of the day's highlights will be the opportunity to taste their new cuvee—a barrel fermented 2016 Rose de Noirs of which only 500 bottles were produced. There will also be time to relax and absorb the idyllic surroundings while enjoying a glass of chilled fizz.
More bubbles greet you back on board as you sink into your seat and chat about the day’s highlights. Savour a sumptuous four-course dinner with half a bottle of wine on the way back to London. Coffee and petits fours are served shortly before you reach your journey’s end.
