A Michelin-starred Madeira menu

Named after the visionary founder of Reid’s Palace, Mr William Reid, the one Michelin star William Restaurant is a destination in its own right. The menu celebrates the finest produce from the island, masterfully treated with innovative flavours and techniques. Savour exquisite creations alongside panoramic views of the dramatic Funchal coastline.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, 7.30-11pm.



Our Michelin-starred restaurant warmly welcomes children aged 8 and above. Kindly note that children under the age of 8 are not permitted.

    José Diogo Costa

    Born in Funchal, José Diogo Costa’s culinary adventures began in his childhood, line-fishing by day and cooking the catch with his family by night. His cuisine, locally-sourced, is committed to zero-waste production models. It pays homage to his hometown of Seixal and the long-forgotten producers once treasured by Madeiran ancestors.

    At William Restaurant, enjoy fresh, local ingredients that encapsulate Madeiran and Portuguese gastronomy with a twist. Expect to savour Chef Diogo’s trout dish with grape leaves and fermented cucumber, or the physalis paired with exquisite local wine, selected by our talented sommelier Alberto Luz.
