The VECLAM Initiative
Launched in 2021, VECLAM is a vital conservation effort orchestrated by the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests of Madeira to protect the monk seals. The organisation enhances the monk seal’s natural habitats, assesses threats to their survival and engages local communities to protect this endangered species across the Madeira archipelago.
