Savute Elephant Lodge is located in a remote corner of the Chobe Desert in Botswana.

When you arrive at either Maun Airport or Kasane Airport, we will then take care of your flight transfers into our camp, included in the price of your safari.

The flight times are as follows:

• From Maun to Eagle Island Lodge: 20 minutes
• From Eagle Island Lodge to Savute Elephant Lodge: 45 minutes
• From Eagle Island Lodge to Kasane: 1 hour
• From Kasane to Livingstone: 24 minutes
• From Maun to Kasane: 1 hour 5 minutes

Before travelling the most important thing to remember is the weight restrictions on the light aircraft that take you from lodge to lodge. Due to the small size of aircraft baggage cannot exceed 20kg and should be stored in soft-sided baggage. Failure to comply with this restriction may result in you having to repack your bags on arrival in Botswana. Please do keep in mind all our lodges have excellent laundry facilities, included in the cost of your safari.

Smart casual wear is the order of the day, and we would recommend comfortable and practicable walking shoes. For morning and afternoon excursions we recommend light windproof jackets, as the winter months from May to August can be somewhat cool. For evening dinners, jacket and ties are not required, and depending on the season a light pullover or cardigan is customary.

Yes, excluding imported champagnes, VSOP spirits and South African Reserve wines. Four meals are served daily, and special requests are accommodated to the best of the camp’s ability.

Yes, provided dietary requirements are notified at the time of booking. We do however regret that we are unable to provide meals requiring strict religious observance in the preparation.

Complimentary wireless internet is available at our lodges, but please note that connectivity may be limited due to our remote locations.

Our safaris are planned to maximise the enjoyment of the wildlife and the contrasting environments paired with the best in accommodation, fine food and wines. However, it is a wild and dangerous environment unsuitable for children under 6 years of age. We also wish to create a relaxed atmosphere that may not be best suited for all children, although they will always be welcomed on safari when accompanied by an adult.

We are able to accommodate passengers with slight walking difficulties although we recommend they are accompanied by an able-bodied passenger. We regret that our safari vehicles and aircraft are not adapted for wheelchairs and therefore our safaris are not suited for wheelchair-bound travellers. Should you have any special requirements please contact us.

With apologies to smokers, we operate a no smoking policy on all safari activities. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas.

Gratuities are at the guests' discretion. Generally, any currency is accepted. Each camp has a tipping box and guest tips are periodically distributed amongst team members, except guides. As is customary with safaris, the guides are tipped individually by the guest.

Yes. We have a range of exclusively designed gifts, apparel, luggage, art and jewellery. Smaller items can be purchased at the lodges while larger gifts can be shipped.

Yes. A safari is ideal for celebrating a family occasion or entertaining clients on a corporate incentive. Group discounts apply to parties of 15 or more. Safaris can also be chartered for bigger occasions, though please note the safaris are limited to 24 people. Please contact us for more details.

A room at Eagle Island Lodge begins at $3,195 per night, which includes all meals, all beverages (excluding imported champagne and VSOP spirits and South African Reserve Wines), laundry service, two game viewing activities per day per person, national park fees and emergency medical evacuation insurance.
