The Experience

Dining & Entertainment

A sparkling gold evening dress and a tuxedo dangle from coat hangers above a table and a blue velvet chair in a cabin.

Take your seat in the dining car for the adventure of a lifetime, where extravagant cuisine is served around the clock and live entertainment plays long into the night.

Marvel as fresh seasonal supplies are loaded to the train at stops along the journey, and then expertly prepared by world renowned chefs in our onboard kitchen. Meanwhile, in the bar car, bartenders mix elegant cocktails to the sound of our resident pianist, playing requests on the baby grand piano.

    Jean Imbert

Chef Jean Imbert blends the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express’ rich heritage with his own passion for fresh seasonal produce to create moments of culinary perfection in motion. Redesigning the restaurant’s ambiance and bringing a new level of classical precision to each menu, anticipate a true gourmet journey while travelling between Europe’s most exceptional cities.

Cementing existing relationships with local producers while forging new connections with specialist artisans along the route, Jean Imbert transforms the finest ingredients into original menus as the seasons change.

Breakfast

A Private Affair...

An indulgent breakfast is the only way to prepare for the day of adventure ahead. Of course, this is no usual breakfast in bed. Our steward will bring a beautiful spread to your cabin at a time of your choosing, so that you can wake a little slower as Europe passes your window.

Breakfast

…or a Decadent Feast

Or perhaps a celebration is in order. Take to one of our hand-restored 1920s restaurant cars for a breakfast of champions. Coffee, smoked salmon, eggs, truffles… perhaps a little caviar too? And if the mood strikes for a morning mimosa or bellini, we certainly won’t judge.

I want to create beautiful moments which complement the train, which is the true star. Its unique legacy is something we will take pride in respecting, while evolving a new sense of style and purpose that will captivate a new generation.

  • Lunch

    Unapologetic Extravagance

A relaxed, lavish lunch is the surest sign of a day well spent — especially when lunch is quite this opulent. Take to your chosen dining car and unwind over three courses of freshly prepared dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Our sommelier will pair each with the perfect bottle… and our stewards can bring coffee to your cabin should you require a brief rest afterwards.

High Tea

To Accompany your Adventure

Watching the unseen corners of Europe unfold gently outside your window can be thirsty work. The winding mountain valleys of Austria, the epic rolling hills of Tuscany, and the glistening vineyards of Eastern France all deserve an accompaniment fitting of their splendour. Fittingly, our afternoon tea service is complete with pastries, coffee and an extensive tea selection.

Aperitifs

The Golden Hour

As day fades, the golden light of sunset fills each carriage and a convivial atmosphere sweeps the train. The unmistakable chime and chink of mixing cocktails floats from the bar car, carried from carriage-to-carriage by stewards in blue.

Negronis, martinis, spritzes, sours. All manner of spirit and fortified wine. They’re taken in dining cars and private cabins, to intimate nooks and grand suites as the sun settles beyond the horizon. Night is afoot.

Dinner

Dining For The Ages

The centrepiece of our grand adventure has arrived. In many ways, it’s the moment we have been journeying towards. Brace yourself for Chef Jean Imbert’s extravagant table d'hôte menu that harks back to the majesty of travel’s golden age. You’ll never eat quite like it again.

After Dark

Nights of Revelry

With the last morsel of dinner now finished, it’s time for the evening to really begin. Follow the sound of our grand piano to the bar car, where you’ll encounter our resident pianist setting the tone while classically trained barmen shake fresh cocktails. Order your favourite tipple, request your favourite song, and settle in for an evening of chance encounters with like-minded travellers… and after that, midnight brunch.

Into the night...

Midnight Brunch

After a night of carousing, what better way to cement new friendships than a late night snack of lobster rolls, truffled club sandwiches and champagne in Bar Car '3674'? All soundtracked by live piano and the shake-shake of our barman, still mixing whatever your palate desires. It’s a truly decadent end to the night… however long it may continue.
