After the afternoon tea, spent soaking up the vistas from your cabin, dinner and onboard entertainment await in the Dining Car.

Day Two

Taman Negara - Kuala Lumpur

This morning, enjoy your breakfast and admire the views of the Jungle Railway as the train courses through some of the wildest parts of Malaysia. After lunch, you arrive at Merapoh station and alight for some extraordinary experiences in Taman Negara National Park—formed 130 million years ago, it’s one of the oldest tropical rainforests in the world.

The dense jungle, wide rivers and lush mountains are home to wildlife ranging from water buffalo to macaques, tapirs, and hornbills to the Malayan tiger—a true explorer’s paradise. From here, choose among a wide variety of excursions: venture into the forest to explore the habitat of the critically endangered Malayan tiger (sightings not expected) and meet local activists striving to safeguard its future. Or, join a nature photographer and conservationist for a wild and wonderful immersion, hearing the chant of gibbons as you learn to focus in on the jungle’s beguiling details. Alternatively, discover the otherworldly allure of the magnificent caves of the region, gliding from one to another by e-bicycle. Or, finally, enjoy a sublime wellness experience, including sunrise yoga, forest bathing and sound meditation.

Return to the train in time for lunch, then enjoy the rest of the afternoon on board before dinner.

Day Three

West-coast Line - Penang

Enjoy breakfast on board before alighting for the crossing to Penang Island.

Here, we’ve created a choice of excursions that make the most of Malaysia’s cultural melting pot. Art lovers can explore George Town Old Quarter on the backseat of a Vespa with a guide, discovering its vibrant architecture and cultural influences before visiting some brilliant local artists in their studios. Food aficionados can embark on a discovery of Peranakan cooking, purchasing specialities from spice and grocery stores before mastering delicious local dishes in a cookery class. Or, for those who prefer to explore independently, we present you with a tri-shaw, a driver and a map, so that you can wind through Georgetown’s enchanting streets and visit its attractions on at whim.

Rejoin the train at Butterworth for lunch and a leisurely afternoon on board—the perfect time to visit Dior Spa. Later, continue relaxing on the train or take the opportunity to stroll through the Malaysian city of Ipoh, a former tin capital and gateway to the Cameron Highlands , where old-world charm meets contemporary street art.

Return to the train for a convivial final evening on board with sublime cuisine and fabulous entertainment.
